The line graph presents information about the daily electricity demand in the UK in winter and summer. The types of electricity used
for is provided in the pie chart in the percentages term.
As can be seen from the graph, there are different patterns in demand for electricity in two seasons. The figure of daily electricity
want demanded in winter starts at 35,000 units, followed by fluctuating around figures between 30,000 to 40,000 units in the first-half of a typical day. Then, the demand reaches a peak of almost 45,000 units in 21 hours at 9 pm., before falling dramatically to 35,000 units at the end of the day.
The summer demand for electricity, by comparison, experienced a gradual drop during a nine-hour period, from 18,000 units to 12,000 units. However, electric needs recover
s to its highest level of 20,000 units in 14 hours. Then, the demand declines in the next few hours before bouncing back to nearly 20,000 units by the midnight.
It is clear from the pie chart that the largest proportion of electricity is used for heating rooms and water (52.5 percent)
Estimate IELTS Band Score: 6.5
IELTS Examiner’s Comments:
Student, more info needs to be given from the pie chart. Also, you need to present the data a little clearer. For example, when you say 14 hours, do you mean 2 pm? They want you to use clock times and bring in your own language like ‘late afternoon’, ‘early evening’, etc. Good effort though.
