Starting with marriage and divorce rates, in the first two decades, the amount number of marriages was remained the same number at 2.5 million (people) in 1970 and 2000 1980 while the number of divorces significantly rose from a 1 million people to almost 1.5 million people, its highest point, in 1980.After that, the smallest gap between marriages and divorces was underwent in the last decade featured, when the proportion of divorces and marriages was 50 percents, about a million people. ß This sentence just doesn’t make sense.
When looking at the marital status of adult Americans, in 1970, married was majority of status marriage had the highest figures and divorced was minority status had the lowest figures. However, in 2000, the percentage of married couples dropped by 10 percents, from 70 to 60 percents whereas the percentage of divorced couples and never unmarried citizens gradually increased to almost 10 (percents) and 20 percents respectively.
Overall, rates in being couples decreased: Americans divorced and were alone, remain single; in other words, those people did not decide to get along with someone more than the past.
